Bio
WonJin Yoon is a postdoctoral research fellow working with Dr. Timothy Miller at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS).
Throughout his doctoral research, he explored a range of topics in biomedical NLP, from pre-training language models in the biomedical domain (BioBERT) to downstream tasks such as named entity recognition, relation extraction, and question answering.
He has activelyparticipated in multiple domain-specific NLP shared tasks, and in many of them, his team achieved top-ranked performance.
He received his doctoral degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Korea University in 2023, and joined BCH/HMS in May of the same year. During his PhD studies, he had been an external research collaborator of AstraZeneca since 2020, having published academic articles and open-sourced an NER platform for the pharmaceutical industry (entitled as KAZU).
